Really wish I could give it 5 stars, but NO HYDRATION COMPATIBILITY

Haven't toured with this backpack yet; but I did extensive research and in my hands on my back; this is exactly what I was looking for in a ski bag. Traditional back panel. A-Frame preference; helmet carry; generous storage. HOWEVER, in my research I overlooked hydration compatibility; and I feel like that should be a given for touring bags these days. We go uphill, we need to hydrate, and the best bags are theoretically designed to give you access to your essentials without having to do too much work or take the bag off. I get that for this bag, the unique backpanel opening would probably have to be revised; but common. Easy hydration compatibility is essential; but with a little cutting and sewing; I've found a solution. Other than my hydration pet peeve, I'm very excited by everything else on this bag. It is light and simple in a perfect way. Can't wait to get it out on snow.

Simple, Robust yet lightweight Pack

This backpack carries well, and I'm super happy with the quality of construction. Tough fabric and no exposed bits and pieces where a ski carry would generate wear.

Access to the interior of the pack is very well thought out, and zippers are smooth. Big fan.

Great pack

Overall, a great pack. I've used this for most of the season in Alaska, BC, and Washington. It's what I reach for more than anything else, on tours ranging from quick and simple, to 12+ hour days carrying a rope, harness, single ice tool, etc.

Pros: First and foremost, the bag skis well. It fits my 5'11" frame super well in all layers I've worn. The combined back and top access help keep things organized. The shovel pocket is ample enough for a reasonably-sized shovel, climbing plates, and skins. Finally, the hipbelt pockets are a nice touch (far too many bags omit these in favor of extra gear loops, which are less useful than pockets on 90% of tours.

Cons: The carry system could use some work. The diagonal carry depends on an extra part, when it could just employ an additional sewn loop and a ski strap. The A-frame carry is good, but the lower cinch straps work themselves loose almost immediately—it would be nice to see something heavier-duty. The ice tool carry system is also strange; it works well enough for a single tool, but carrying multiple tools—or tools with more aggressive picks or shafts—is more difficult than it needs to be. Lastly, smaller users may have an issue with the single offered size.

These kinks are minor and definitely don't stop me from recommending the pack.
