Simple, versatile, and purpose driven.

I love this pack. I use it primarily for the work I do with helicopters. I needed somthing with no straps, that could hold up to rigorous daily use, and great internal organization of rescue equipment. This is the ideal pack for what I need. I’ve also used this bag for non-technical airline travel and it’s a great carry on. Blue Ice made the octopus purpose driven and versatile. Would recommend!

Quality!!!

This bag is a trimmed down version of the moonlight. Lighter, less pockets, and less features. The 45 is a great size for the crag. The 35 seems more of a gym bag or bare essentials kind of bag. The main compartment is great for just throwing in your gear and the zippers work great.

Amazing climbing pack

I bought this climbing lvl for my 14 year old daughter. Recommended by an upcoming climbing camp she will be in this summer. She loves it, the ability to open it from the front, packs all her gear including helmet, so easy to get to things. It’s very comfortable and durable. They have thought about all the tiny details!

Great pack

I really like this as a cragging pack, but mostly do multipitch stuff now so it doesn't get used as much as it used to. It is a really well designed pack that carries everything I need- 60m rope, shoes, guidebook, full rack, harness water and snack, tiny first aid kit, helmet, etc. More than enough room for everything, and a good place or system for each item. Mine did not come with the tarp or helmet holder for some reason, and i bought the helmet holder and just don't use a tarp when I clim out of this pack. (Kinda bummed I didn't get the tarp) it's still a great pack though.

Very Pleased
The Octopus 45 L is a great pack

I am 70 years old with about 50 years mountain experience. I haven't purchased a new pack in 30 years and before buying this, conducted a thorough review of the competition. The Octopus came out on top based on size, design and price (although that was not a factor). I am not disappointed. The materials and workmanship are outstanding. I do recommend that Blue Ice modify the design a bit. I cut strip of a closed-cell foam pad that matches the inner circumference of the pack and is about 17cm high--inserting this provides structure to the pack's somewhat amorphous nature--in future designs
an inner sleeve could be added for inserting the foam pad. Did I mention that the Octopus also looks great! I definitely recommend this to other mountaineers.
