Description
The Akila is the first B/Type 1 ice axe to achieve such a high level of technicality in the ultralight category.
The head is made of Chromoly steel and optimized for durability while maintaining a minimal weight. The reverse curve shape and taper of the pick makes for solid placements in ice or thin cracks.
The adze is ideal for cutting into hard alpine ice for clearing placements and anchors- or helping to clear a bivy ledge.
The Akila is short enough (49cm), light (345g), and compact enough to be easily stored in a backpack.
The integrated Tech Pommel is a compact trigger rest that can be tucked out of the way on less technical sections and deployed for a confident grip in steep neve and ice.
It is the ideal tool for climbers/skiers who want to climb faster and lighter with a very technical and robust ice axe.
