Description

The Choucas range is our heritage harness: designed in 2012, we have improved it over the years to launch this fourth version acclaimed by mountain guides.

Much lighter (142g in S) and more compact than other classic mountaineering harnesses, this latest version is still comfortable with its wide waist belt. It is the ultimate alpine harness for competitions, ski touring and glacier approach.

Its features and equipment make it the ideal harness with its four large gear loops, two ice screw slots on the waist belt and two more on the leg loops. You can put it on with your feet on the ground, with skis or crampons, and easily adjust the tightening at the waist, thanks to its new waist speed buckle.

Ultralight

Bought the Choucas as it is the ultimate ultralight tool for my adventuring.
With all ultralight gear comes a degree of sacrifice in comfort and typically pricing.
The harness is not entirely comfortable when repelling but then again, bought it for the weight, not comfort.
The Choucas as well as the other gear i’ve bought and used from Blue Ice, has been very reasonably priced for the quality of gear they offer.
Overall, this things prettty niice.

I really wanted to love it!

So initially I was drawn to this harness because I thought it was everything I wanted; ultralight, compact, belay loop and gear loop layout that I was looking for, and really well made (price and the stuff sack were just a bonus).

However after my first use I started to realize that is was not very comfortable for me. After a few more uses I was starting to become envious of friends who had different ultralight harness. To be clear the waistband is great, my problem was where the leg loops joined the waistband, if you look closely they come around the leg and right back up to the waistband, unlike most harness which keep the leg loop on the leg. It ends up feeling more like a bikini cut bottom, rather than a boxer cut, if that makes any sense. If the leg loops were dropped down a few inches it would be a perfect 5star review for me, as it is I will continue to use it, I just don't look forward to using it as much as I had hoped that I would.

*Females may still find this to be a comfortable fit, in which case its perfect, but I really don't know. I can only speak to my experience with it (I would still recommend Blue Ice because of the great materials and workmanship).

**I feel terrible about leaving a 2 star review, maybe go check out the Choucas Pro instead, though its a different belay loop
