Overall this bag is pretty good but not perfect. I routinely use this bag while guiding and carry fairly heavy loads (50+ lbs). The bag has held up pretty well over the past 3 years that I have used it but is showing its age. Couple areas that I would improve would be the outer material attracts dirt/scuffs so needs a wipe down after every outing. The main issue I have is the stitching in a couple key areas is pulling out. The load lifters and the main grab handles are slowly ripping out. This is probably a result of the heavy loads being carried but I had hoped a bit more resilience. This bag can stand a good amount of abuse and I am sure would last longer with lighter loads.
This is definitely the best crag pack I have used. Similar to the BD but significantly better in my opinion. The zipper goes all the way to the bottom so you can really access your goodies. I wish there was an exterior pocket on each side for big nalgenes and stick clips. I like that stuff on the outside. Hands down the best pack available right now.
It doesnt come in different length sizes :( I have bought and returned over 6 packs in a year just to try to find the ultimate weekend warrior pack. I need something over 45L, quick access, comfortable AND durable since i am constantly on the go, and some days have big objectives so I need to be able to carry a Rope + Gear + Draws + Rack + water Dram.
This was THE pack. It had everything so well thought out.. but it was clearly designed for someone over 5’7 feet tall :( The straps sat about 1.5 inches above my shoulders even after being pulled down with the load straps. I’m 5’3 and my partner is 5’5. The pack didnt fit either of our backs unfortunately.
If Blue Ice ever came out with a S/m & a m/L in this pack, i would buy without question and recommend non-stop.
This crag bag has all the positive attributes of the 35L in a much larger size. Love this bag for trad cragging with tough approaches where I can fit multiple pairs of shoes, full rack, draws, harness, helmet, and rope inside. Very well thought out pockets help keep accessories organized. Tough and durable.
This thing is sweet! It has a comfortable carry and the most functional design of any cragging pack I've seen, I love it! Plus with the Moonlight you won't have to look around at all the BD Creek packs and wonder which one is yours 🤣😁
