Durability Issues and Small Nits

I wanted to like this pack, but was a bit disappointed. My main issue is that it doesn't seem very durable. There are already a few small holes in the bottom of the pack from one trip (which was mostly on snow). The sides also have a couple holes from carrying skis; I wasn't expecting it to be great for carrying skis, but definitely wore through faster than a previous patagonia pack.

A couple other small nits that are annoying but not dealbreakers. The waist buckle requires some extra care to make sure it clips if snow gets in or the waist belt padding gets in the way. The shoulder and haul straps don't hold their length very well and require adjustment throughout the trip. The daisy chains on the pack are a titch too small to get my BD helmet buckles through so securing a helmet is less convenient.

I do like the rope carry system and pack lid attachment. It also overstuffs and carries reasonably well.

Functional and Minimalist

The updated Warthog is an awesome streamlined pack for alpinists or others that want a simple and highly functional pack. I was able to test it out late season in the North Cascades on single and multi-day objectives. Loaded up, it climbed extremely well and handled the load well for what it is. The fabric shed water well, which was put to the test walking out of Boston Basin in the rain. I will continue to choose this pack (40L) for multi-day objectives where light weight and a streamlined design are critical to moving efficiently over large amounts of terrain.
